STABLE RUNNING   SUPERIOR BALANCE  Analysing the counterbalance torque curve, we can see that the net torque of the new model pumping units is uniform and near the horizontal (Fig 1). But the counterbalance torque curve of the conventional puping units is approximate to a sinusoid (Fig 2). It has a high peak value of torque and a big reverse load, so it runs unstably.

As the new model has a low peak value of torque, it runs stably and shockless and has a good counterbalance result. The pitmans and the walking beam are durable and the noise is much lower than that of conventional model.

The design of the pumping units supplied by FPMW has been improved on the linkage ratio and the parameters of four bars linkage mechanism. The upsroke angle of the crank rotation is 197° and the downstroke angle is 163°. It occasions a stroke timedifference. But the upstroke and down stroke time of the conventional pumping units is nearly the same as it is limited by the construction.

Since the longer upstroke time of the new model makes the polished-rod have a lower acceleration ( it is reduced by 30% ), the rod, pump and the unit will have a long service life.

The reduced peak value of the upstroke and the raised value of the downstroke moderate the range of variation of the toeque. There is a angle between the center-line of the crank-pin hole. It results in a counterbalance torque of the gear reducer torque of the new model pumping units is 40% lower than the conventional.

The torque of the gear reducer is proportional to the power of the prime mover. For this reason, compared with the conventional pumping units, the prime mover of the phased crank counterbalance pumping units can be decreased by one or two orders of magnitude. It is not only save the user's primary investment for equipment, but also decrease energy consumption by 20--30%. It has a great significance in reducing cost of crude oil recovery.
