Taiwan mapping out 5G blueprint
TAIPEI - Taiwan will establish a governing body to direct the island's development of fifth-generation (5G) mobile networks, the island's executive authority declared on Friday at a conference.
Jiang Yi-huah, head of Taiwan's executive authority, said at the strategic conference on developing 5G mobile networks, that the island's authority should map out a blueprint for 5G as soon as possible, to sustain Taiwan's edge in the communications industry and provide people with a "smart" lifestyle.
Duh Tyzz-jiun, deputy head of Taiwan's economic authority, suggested that the island develop its indigenous 5G services to create its niche in specific sectors.
He also called for the island to take initiative in regional 5G standard setting.
