China Light Industrial Corporation for Foreign Economic and Technical Co-operation (CLETC) was set up in April, 1983. CLETC is a large state-owned enterprise of the foreign economic co-operation and trade approved by the State Council, registered at the State Administration for Industry and Commerce and administrated by the Central Government. The main business scope of CLETC covers contracting industrial engineering projects, developing labour service co-operation, undertaking industrial projects with Chinese economic aid to foreign countries, dispatching trainees to Japan, importing and exporting of complete sets of equipment and other commodities, organizing exhibitions at home and abroad, making industrial investments, providing consulting service, etc. CLETC has 11 departments, some subsidiary companies and affiliated companies. In addition, CLETC has representative offices or representatives in Mali, Uganda, Japan, Czech Rep., etc. CLETC has actively made full use of the advantages in light industries, creating both domestic and overseas markets. CLETC is the main channel of the Chinese light industries in the development of the foreign trade and economic co-operation.
